"Big Brother and the Holding Company was a prime example of a band where the chemistry was right, where the whole was greater than the sum of its parts. You cannot buy or manufacture the natural feeling that was in that band. Big Brother played from the heart and soul with the goal of achieving a direct connection with the innermost feelings of the audience." - Sam Andrew

As we approach the new millenium, Big Brother & The Holding Company is still making great music. The band's most recent studio album, "Do What You Love", is selling well on the 1999 tour and is being distributed nationally by City Hall
Records. Also Sony Legacy has released "Janis Joplin and Big Brother & the
Holding Company Live at Winterland 1968". This is a great CD which illustrates just how the band cooked that fateful time in '68 upon returning "home" to San Francisco, after a national tour.
The current lineup consists of original band members Sam Andrew, Dave Getz, and Peter Albin, joined by
guitarist Tom Finch and Maria Stanford on lead vocals. The backbone of the
band remains its solid rhythm section and the signature psychedelic "Blues in Technicolor" guitar work that fuses classical, jazz, blues and rock into an amazing sound as fresh in the 90's as it was in the 60's.
So, if you get the opportunity, take in the sights & sounds of this band, You won't be disappointed. Also if you are interested in a narrative and photo description of the current band, visit The Rock Garden's reviews and photos pages.
